E-NEWS FOR PITTSFORD FAMILIES 03/11/10--COLLEGE INFORMATION NIGHT-Save the Date! Mendon and Sutherland HS Counseling Departments will be hosting the annual College Information Night on Thursday, March 11 at 7pm at Mendon HS. Parents and students of both high schools are encouraged to attend. Topics covered include: College Admissions; Early College Planning; Financial Aid; SUNY Overview; and others. Details will be provided as the date draws near. 03/20/10 & 03/21/10-- ImagineIT: DesignIT - RIT Workshop Saturday March 20 - Sunday March 21, RIT is hosting a workshop for 7th - 11th grade girls interested in creative computing including 3D programming, problem-solving, and design. The deadline to apply is February 22nd and there is a $50 fee. Applications can be downloaded at http://i2c3.ce.rit.edu/node/51 03/22/10-- Board of Education 2010-2011 Budget Development Meeting Schedule: Next Meeting is Monday, March 22, 2010 from 6 - 7 p.m. Budget Work Session, Barker Road Middle School, Meeting Room. Budget Work Sessions are used by the Board of Education to gather information and ask questions about particular sections of the budget. These sessions are held outside of formal Board of Education meetings. Most decisions will be discussed during these sessions. The Pittsford Central School District community is invited and encouraged to attend these sessions as they are open to the public. 04/01/10-- Historic Pittsford Achievement Awards: Historic Pittsford annually recognizes individuals and/or organizations in the community whose outstanding contributions to the preservation of the history and character of the Village or Town of Pittsford are worthy of recognition. Community members are encouraged to nominate individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, students, scouts, government bodies, etc. The deadline to submit nominations is April 1. The Pittsford Panther Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization will begin open registration on March 3, 2010 for interested players and cheerleaders ages 7 - 14. Attention Middle School and High School students: Pittsford Little League is getting ready to begin our first Challenger Baseball league season for children with mental and/or physical challenges, and we need your help! We are recruiting “buddies” for the players that will assist the players during the games. It is a great opportunity to volunteer and earn community service hours. We are looking for “buddies” to make a regular commitment to Sunday afternoon games beginning in June 2010 for a 6-8 week game schedule, however, we welcome volunteers any week as well. Full training will be provided. Rochester-Monroe County Youth Bureau: This year the Rochester-Monroe County Youth Bureau is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. Reserve Hotels for 2010 Graduation Now Pittsford's 2010 graduation ceremonies scheduled for Saturday, June 26 overlap with the recently announced LPGA Championship at Locust Hill Country Club. Graduates with expected out-of-town guests may want to consider reserving any necessary hotel accommodations now. All are welcome. 02/26-03/19/10-- Alumni Photography Exhibit at Sutherland High School: Sutherland High School Alumni photographers from the 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s, and guest photographers from Sutherland High School’s Class of 2010, have come together for a unique exhibit of their work. The SHS Alumni Photography Invitational Exhibit will hang in Gallery Thirty One at Sutherland High School February 26 - March 19, 2010. We will meet there at 1:30 to work on a spring project with the residents and have some fun! - Community Service will be sponsoring a can/bottle drive at our upcoming Open House/Ice Cream Social March 31- as part of our District Wide Project for Spring.
