2009-2010 PCSD-PTSA Fall Celebration.

On Nov. 16, 2009, the District PTSA held our first Fall Celebration. Typically we have this type of networking get together in the Spring, but due to many new PTSA faces we decided it should be held  in the Fall. This event includes District PTSA representatives, PTSA Building Chairs, School District executive staff, and the School Board members, for a total invitees of approximately 120 people. This is our time to not only say Thank you, but to get to know one another, put faces to names and further develop our working relationship.

This year for the first time each school Building and the District PTSA was able to nominate and invite one person as their  Special Volunteer.  This person could be a  parent volunteer or school staff member who has gone above and beyond behind the scenes to help at their individual buildings. Every buildings biggest problem was choosing just one, we are so lucky to have such great parents and staff! This years invites where: District PTSA, Ed Pretko, MCE Nancy Filiaci, PR Annemarie Anaya, TR Mary Reilly, CRMS Amy Daniels, JR Mark Lucci, AC Cynthia Rickett, BRMS Kevin O'Connor,  and at SHS Doug Simmons. You can view why they where nominated at here at

We were especially fortunate this year to have the location. The venue for the Fall event was at The Piano Works Mall and was donated by Mr & Mrs. Beach. The wonderful, delicious appetizers and dinner all donated from the catering department of "The Holiday Inn" located by the Rochester Airport. The delicious cookie trays donated by  Mr & Mrs. Anthony  Daniele owners of "Mario's" restaurant. Chris Brush who donated and did all of the lovely decorations. All these people have children in the Pittsford School system and helped make this event a wonder night. Thank you!

We also had two children Arthur Fan (6th Grader) and Linda Fan (8th Grader) do a wonderful Violin duet as guests arrived. Both are from CRMS and their lovely playing is a tribute to the wonderful school music teachers  at CRMS and their personal dedication to being the best they can be.  Art work  was on display by the very talented students of MHS. Guests loved viewing the varying art styles and where amazed at the quality and detail of these young adults work. Again a wonderful tribute to the school, their Art program, and the personal gifts of these  talented young adults. All of this was, the selection, mounting, and delivery was orchestrated by Kathy Eckler of MHS.  Thank you for making it possible.

To all the other many people who made this event a success Thank you!

Michaela Ryan and Kris Waldman

This year for the first time each school Building and the District PTSA chairs were able to nominate and invite one person as their  Special Volunteer. The respective Building Chairs presented the awards and the citations below.

District PTSA's Special Volunteer Award

presented to

Ed Pretko

"District would like to honor Ed Pretko on behalf of every building in the school district. Everyone knows and loves Ed. He is wonderful to work with and makes everyone's job much easier! We would all be lost without him and work that he does. We would like you to know how the District Chairs and the building programs describe Ed: "Wonderful”, “a life saver", fantastic”, does wonders”, Fabulous!" well you get the idea. Ed thank you, thank you for helping us so much!!!

Mendon Center's Special Volunteer Award

presented to

Nancy Filiaci

"We are honoring Nancy Filiaci because of her ongoing participation in MCE's Helping Hands, especially through working on Sing out with her husband. Particularly this year when it appeared that Helping Hands might not be able to continue. Nancy graciously assumed that reigns as chairperson in order to ensure that the community service program would be available to Mendon Center's 4th and 5th graders for another year. She has taken on the monumental project despite the increased demands of her work and family. Her commitment to the MCE PTSA throughout the years, coupled with her willingness to step up into the leadership role, trul demonstrates her dedication to our school and the community and for that we are very thankful!"

Thornell Road's Special Volunteer Award

presented to

Mary Reilly

"As shared by the current chairs--Mary was Thornell Road's Chair for three years since no replacement could be found. She still has been instrumental for us in moving forward at our school. Mary is always available to answer questions and is still active in the school with the Welcome Back Picnic and Book Fair, to name just two. We would have a difficult time in our adjustment as school chairs without Mary's advisement. Her love of Thornell Road School is evident in everything she does. Her school spirit is contagious!!!"

Park Road's Special Volunteer Award

presented to

Anne-marie Anaya

"Park Road would like to honor Anne-marie Anaya as our special volunteer. She had done so much behind the scenes PTSA work that doesn't always get recognition. She has been the editor of the Park Road Particulars for many years and has overseen the smooth distribution of this weekly school news letter. She has also helped for a number of years with after school enrichment programs and chess club registration. She was instrumental in creating Journalism Club as well. Thank you Anne-marie for all that you do!!!"

Allen Creeks's Special Volunteer Award

presented to

Cynthia Rickett

"For over 20 Years, Cynthia Rickett has worked tirelessly as the cook manager of Allen Creek Elementary School cafeteria. She has provided healthy food choices in a warm and caring environment. Creating games such as X day, and using trivia to make food fun. Cindy has enlivened the Allen Creek cafeteria with her smile and energy. While she may not be a face known to every parent, our children are lucky to know that Cindy will help them make healthy choices in the years to come. Thank you for all that you do Cindy."

Jefferson Road's Special Volunteer Award

presented to

Mark Lucci

"Mr. Lucci, our Head Custodian has the fantastic ability to keep Jefferson Road running SO smoothly!"

Barker Road's Special Volunteer Award

presented to

Kevin O'Connor

"Kevin O'Connor is Head Custodian at Barker Road Middle School. He and his staff are always courteous and obliging when PTSA requests facility modifications, whether for meetings, teacher luncheons, or busy Activity Nights. We couldn't do it the same way without Kevin and his group. Thank you so much for all that you do!!!"

CRMS'S Special Volunteer Award

presented to

Amy Daniels

"Amy Daniels is our CRMS PTSA Teacher-Representative. Along with her informative messaged from the CRMS teachers, Amy brings a wonderful dose of sunshine to our monthly meetings. She is such a positive, enthusiastic, warm and caring person; we see her as a wonderful role model for our students (as well as ourselves!)"
