This year, the Rochester-Monroe County Youth Bureau is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and in the coming months, we will be hosting events which honor our community’s youth as well as provide opportunities for positive youth development.

06/08/10--County Executive’s Summer Reading Program and Knowledge Bowl – June 8th through September 25th – County Executive Maggie Brooks kicks off this year’s Summer Reading Program for youth ages 5-14. Participants are motivated read during the summer months and then meet in September in the Knowledge Bowl Competition.
Best Community for Music Education in America-- The Pittsford Central School District has been named to the 2010 list of Best Community for Music Education in America.The NAMM Foundation acknowledges schools and districts across the U.S. on this list for their commitment to and support of music education in schools. Only 174 school districts in 30 states were named by the NAMM Foundation as demonstrating an unwavering commitment to providing music education for their students. Pittsford Odyssey of the Mind Teams are off to the World Competition: Congratulations to the three Odyssey teams have advanced to the World Competition and will be traveling to Lansing Michigan this week. The teams earned their spot at Worlds by winning the Regional and State competitions earlier this year. They will be competing against teams from all over the World. Congratulations to: Mendon Center Elementary School Team “Gift of Flight” with Fritz Grunert, Izaan Kamal, Ben Myers, Gino Filiaci, James Xu and Matt Wang; Mendon High School Team “Food Court” with Celia Salisbury, Megan Cackett, Morgan Scully, Pam Taylor, Abby Williams and Sharon Bender; Park Road Elementary Team “Gift of Flight” with Abby Sprague, Kristin Bernard, Betsy Mehl, Jenny Kallman, Devon Tayman and Jing Chang. Opening Ceremonies, the Graduation Ceremony and the Awards Ceremony will be broadcast as a live web cast during the ceremony as it occurs.
